Project
Overview
The aftereffects of the Noto earthquake were lengthy and far reaching, with people living in evacuation shelters for up to 17 months, with nowhere else to go. Nine volunteers from Impacting Asia travelled to the affected area in May 2024 to provide practical support on the ground, thanks to generous donations.
Spam rice balls, miso soup, snacks and drinks were distributed to people in shelters and the surrounding communities. Meals were cooked for those in need, and stories were listened to from hurting residents who had lost so much.
The team also visited a nursing home to provide emotional support to survivors. Following on from this visit, 300 knitted hats were sent to the evacuation centre in December 2024 to help residents prepare for winter, as well as providing food and drinks. During 2025, 250 kilos of rice was sent to help alleviate some of the ongoing issues as the community recovers.
Thank you to everyone who donated to this disaster. This project is now closed.
